Move A Marathon

There is a HUGE emphasis on Healthy Active Lifestyles as part of the new Government initiative. One of the ways to help this is to show that our children are moving more as a whole school hence the reason for the whole school approach of ‘Move a Marathon’.

As a whole school we would like to complete 18 laps of our netball court every week this broken down is 2 laps a week for Reception to Year 2 children and 3 laps a week for Year 3 to Year 6 children. This will be done around the netball court on the Key Stage 2 yard, around the Key Stage 1 yard or in the hall.

The display in the hall on the large PE board shows the routes with mascots attached for classes to move along after they have run.

Key Stage 1 Multi-skills Competition

On Tuesday 1st March twelve children from Year 1 and 2 took part in the multi-skills event at Unity College. They all had a fantastic night where the participated against other schools.

Well done to all the children that took part.

Year 2 Gymnastics Competition

On the 2nd February , Year 2 Rosewood Gymnastic Team went to the Best Centre for the Gymnastics competition . 5 children took part, they had to complete a floor routine , and a vault which both were very difficult but they succeeded enormously and all managed to get a bronze medal .

All of the children really enjoyed taking part in the competition and came back with a smile on their faces. We would like to thank Mrs Gilbert and Mrs Duckworth for taking the children there and back as well as training them to be fit enough for the task.

Year 2 Gymnastics Competition 2017

On Tuesday 31st January some of our Year 2 children represented Rosewood in a gymnastic competition at the BEST centre. There were 19 schools from the Burnley and Padiham area that entered and each pupil had to perform a floor routine and a vault, which were both very difficult. What a fantastic job they did too! As there were so many schools involved it was quite a scary experience, however, Thomas Thistlewaite, Cee-Jay Hartley, Daniel Theodorescu, Barney Cooke and Ruby Jamieson performed brilliantly, making Rosewood very proud.

All of the children really enjoyed taking part in the competition and have set the standard high for our Year 3 and 4 gymnastics team. Well Done!!

Year 5/6 Football

On Tuesday 7th March 2017 Rosewood’s football team, went to Unity College to participate in a football tournament. In the tournament, Rosewood played three games, and won two of them. In the first game we played against St Stephen’s C of E Primary School. After about ten minutes, Dylan B. thought the line was five yards from where it was and picked the ball up! St Stephen’s got a free kick. The ball flew on to the post and hit Liam in the face; Rosewood then conceded the first goal. St Stephen’s then scored again but the last goal was an own goal bouncing off William’s leg; the end score was 3-0. In the second game we played Worsthorne. Luckily, Dylan received the ball from Henry and headed the ball; it flew past Worsthorne’s keeper. The final score was 1-0. The final match was against Brunshaw. After about fifteen minutes, Lennon scored a brilliant goal, making the score 1-0! At the end of the tournament St Stephen’s came second and Rosewood came first, with a whopping twenty-one points! Big thanks to Mr Sutcliffe, Mrs Edmondson, Mr Pennington and all the players for taking part.
