The school SENCo is new to role and is supported on a weekly basis by a SEND advisor and specialist teacher. We look to ensure that we have a variety of skills among our staff body in order to enable us to support children in the best possible way.
The school also facilitates an internal training programme for support staff and teaching staff and draws on a range of specialist providers to ensure that school has the skills set to support the wide range of differing needs across all key stages. Whole group sessions or bespoke support based on the needs of both staff and pupils are timetables.
The school Learning Mentor and support staff are skilled in strategies to support those pupils who struggle socially and emotionally. Through in-house training and support from outside providers school has high level skills in place to support those pupils whose barriers to learning lie in this area.
A large number of staff across all key stages are trained in First Aid, which includes Paediatric First Aid for the Foundation Unit. This is updated regularly.
