Mrs Barker's Challenges.

Threading

Good morning Nursery. Today I thought we could work on our fine motor skills and thread our own Superworm. All you need is some pasta or beads and some wool or a pipe cleaner. My worm is very plain but you could paint or decorate yours.
I can’t wait to see you all on the 8th!

Measuring

Hello nursery, I can’t wait to see you all when we get back to school.

This week we are looking at Superworm and doing a bit of measuring. I would like you go go on a walk and look for things to measure. It could be the longest stick or leaf, or even the biggest stone. I wonder who can find the longest stick?

Mrs Barker’s play dough recipe

We love playing with the dough when we are at nursery, so why not try to make your own to play with at home.
You will need

  • 2 cups of plain flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • 1 tsp of cream of tartare (this can be found on the baking isle)
  • 2 cups of boiling water

Mix all the dry ingredients together before adding the oil and water and give it a good mix. It will look a little runny to start with but the more you mix it the more it will come together.
You can add food colouring if you want coloured play dough and it will last a good few weeks if stored in an air tight container.

I hope this keeps your little one’s entertained. X

Melting snow and snow painting

Good morning Nursery!

It has snowed at my house and we are very excited to go sledging. We have been out and collected some snow in a bowl and brought it in to the house to see what happens. Could you do the same and let me know what happens to yours?
We are also going to take some paints outside and paint the snow later. If you have some paints at your house you could try this.
I look forward to seeing your pictures.

My happy box.

Hello Nursery

This week we are looking at things that make us happy so I would like you to make a happiness box and fill it with things that make you happy.
In my box is a picture of my children because they make me happy. (Most of the time.) I have also added a cup of tea and biscuits and a game because we love playing games in my house. If I had a picture of our nursery class I would of added that too as you all make me very happy.
I can’t wait to see what makes you happy!
