Computing Intent
At Rosewood Primary School, we aim to have our children as creators of technology rather than consumers to it. We encourage our children to use computing devices positively to enhance their learning and understanding. We also aim to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that encompasses computer science, information technology and digital literacy.
We want the children at Rosewood to understand that they always have a choice when it comes to technology and to make these choices in an informed way. Computing is taught during weekly computing lessons, and it is embedded within the curriculum to enhance and improve teaching and learning through creativity, expression and innovation.
Implementation
The implementation of Computing using Purple Mash is underpinned by effective teaching and learning strategies that cater to the needs of all learners. Our teachers receive regular training and support to confidently deliver engaging Computing lessons that foster curiosity and resilience in pupils. Lessons are interactive, hands-on, and differentiated to ensure that every child is challenged and supported in their learning journey.
Purple Mash serves as a versatile platform for delivering the Computing curriculum, offering a wide range of tools and resources for programming, coding, digital creativity, and online safety education. Pupils are encouraged to explore and experiment with different software applications, develop their problem-solving skills through coding challenges, and reflect on their digital footprint in a secure online environment.
Impact
The impact of our Computing curriculum using Purple Mash is evident in the positive outcomes achieved by our pupils. Through regular formative assessment and feedback, teachers can gauge pupils' progress in computational thinking and digital skills, adapting their teaching to address any gaps in understanding. Pupils demonstrate a high level of competence in using technology purposefully and creatively to solve problems, express ideas, and communicate effectively.
Furthermore, the impact of Computing using Purple Mash extends beyond academic achievement to encompass the development of essential skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and digital citizenship. Pupils are equipped with the confidence and resilience to navigate the digital landscape responsibly, respecting the rights and well-being of themselves and others.
